What's in the food I eat?
Different types of food contain different nutrients that are good for us in different ways.
The main nutrients are:
Carbohydrates: they give you energy
Proteins: they help your body grow and mend
Fats: they have lots of energy and help your body get the vitamins it needs
Vitamins: you need a small amount of vitamins for your body to work properly
Minerals: you need minerals to grow strong and keep your body working
You also need:
Fibre: your body needs fibre to keep your digestive system working.
Water: about half your body is water so keep drinking water so you don't dry out!
