An apple a day keeps the doctor away
Apples contain important nutrients that protect your body from illness and help you to stay healthy. That's why we say, "an apple a day keeps the doctor away".
What's in an apple?
- Apples are about 80% water, which your body needs to stay alive.
- Apples contain fibre, which helps you digest your food. Five apples would give you all the fibre you need in a day. But 5 apples wouldn't be a balanced diet, would it?
- Vitamin C is important to keep you well. Eating 100g of Bramley apple gives your body 12mg of Vitamin C.
